What to Expect When We’re Inspecting

- A Homeowner’s Guide

Dear Homeowner,

Thank you for entrusting Interactive Engineering with the assessment of your property. Our goal is to provide you with a thorough and detailed inspection, ensuring a clear understanding of the condition of your home and any necessary steps moving forward. To ensure the inspection is conducted efficiently and safely, we kindly request your cooperation with the following guidelines:

Preparing for the Inspection

  1. Gate Credentials and Arrival Instructions: If your property is located within a gated community or requires special access, please provide the gate attendant with our company information ahead of time or relay the necessary access code and any specific instructions for arrival to our office. This ensures our engineer can enter the community without delays, facilitating a timely start to the inspection.

  2. Access Requirements: Please ensure that all areas of your home, including any locked rooms, basements, attics, and exterior spaces, are accessible. Clear any obstructions that may prevent our engineer from accessing critical areas for assessment.

  3. Pet Safety: For the safety of our staff and the comfort of your pets, we ask that you secure your animals in a separate room or area of the house away from the inspection zones. This helps prevent any distractions or accidents during the inspection process.

  4. No Unaccompanied Minors: We request that no minors be left unaccompanied in the home during the inspection. If you are unable to be present, please ensure that a responsible adult is on-site to oversee the process.

  5. Personal Belongings: While our engineers are trained to handle your property with care, we recommend securing any valuable or fragile items to prevent accidental damage. This includes moving breakables away from areas that will be closely inspected.

  6. Safety Equipment: If necessary, our engineers may use safety equipment such as ladders, hard hats, drone technology or protective footwear. Please allow them the space and time to set up and use this equipment as needed.

During the Inspection

  1. Engineer Identification: Our engineer will arrive in marked company attire and will present identification upon arrival. They are trained to conduct thorough inspections while respecting your property and privacy.

  2. Questions and Concerns: We encourage you to share any specific concerns or questions you may have about your property at the beginning of the inspection that are within the assigned scope of work. This allows our engineer to focus the assessment on the specified areas.

  3. Duration: The length of the inspection can vary depending on the size of your property and the complexity of the issues being assessed. Our engineer will provide you with an estimated timeframe upon arrival.

  4. Safety First: Please follow any safety instructions provided by our engineer during the inspection. This may include staying clear of certain areas or equipment.

  5. Let the Engineer Work: It takes a high level of concentration and effort for the engineer to inspect and document all portions of concern related to the scope of work.  We ask that once the inspection has begun, please refrain from distracting the engineer so that they can perform to the highest level of quality.

  6. Chalk Marking for Detailed Inspection: Our engineer will use washable chalk to mark areas of interest or concern on your roof and other parts of the property.  These markings are temporary and will wash off with rain, causing no permanent impact to your property.

  7. Use of Drone Technology: For portions of the inspection, we may employ drone technology to access and assess hard-to-reach areas of your property, such as rooftops and exterior walls.  We ask that all occupants and pets remain indoors during drone operations to ensure safety.

Post-Inspection

  1. Preliminary Findings: At the conclusion of the inspection, our engineer may share some immediate observations with you. However, please be aware that all detailed findings, analyses, and conclusions will be communicated via a written report according to the assigned scope of work.

  2. Delivery: The results of the inspection will be compiled and sent to your respective representative. This ensures that all information is handled properly and in accordance with legal requirements.

  3. Follow-Up and Questions: For any questions, clarifications, or follow-up regarding the inspection findings, we kindly ask you to contact your respective representative. The representative will coordinate with us as necessary to address any concerns or to provide further information. This process helps maintain a clear line of communication and ensures that all inquiries are addressed professionally and in alignment with your legal representation's guidance.

  4. Legal Representation: If you do not have an attorney or if you have not provided us with their contact information, please ensure this information is communicated to our firm as soon as possible. This is crucial for ensuring that all post-inspection communications are handled correctly.

Thank You

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. This procedure is in place to protect your interests and to ensure that all information is processed in a manner that aligns with legal protocols and client confidentiality.
